Court fee increases announced today to take effect from 1 July 2012

Date:
06/29/2012

Increases to the Supreme Court's filing fees in civil cases were announced today. The increases are detailed in the Civil Procedure Amendment (Fees) Regulation 2012 and the new fees take effect from 1 July 2012.

    The Court has updated its
Forms and Fees page to reflect the new fees.

The Court will continue to accept payments by cheque under the previous fee regime if the cheque was drawn on 2 July 2012 (the first business day after the new fees take effect), or earlier. However, for payments made by cash or credit card, the new fee will apply from 1 July 2012 (the Regulation's commencement date).

    The
Criminal Procedure Amendment (Fees) Regulation 2012 also commences on 1 July 2012, and makes changes to the fees payable in criminal proceedings.

Both Regulations can all be read in full on the
    NSW Legislation website.
