    The Court vacation commences on Saturday, 15 December 2012.

    Throughout the vacation, there will be a duty judge available to hear urgent applications. There will also be limited bail sittings and registrar lists. The vacation sitting arrangements are detailed below.

    Full court sittings will resume on Tuesday, 29 January 2013 (with Monday, 28 January 2013 being a public holiday).

    Urgent Duty Judge and Bail applications

    The following judges are available to hear urgent applications during the 2012/13 court vacation:

    Saturday, 15 December 2012 - Sunday, 16 December 2012
    Duty Judge: Justice Garling (all urgent bail and civil applications, both Common Law and Equity)

    Monday, 17 December 2012 to Sunday, 23 December 2012
    Duty Judges: Justice Garling (urgent civil applications in the Common Law Division)
    Justice Rothman (urgent bail applications Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; urgent civil applications in the Common Law Division on Friday)
    Justice Brereton (urgent applications in the Equity Division)

    Monday, 24 December 2012 to Sunday, 30 December 2012
    Duty Judge: Justice Garling (all urgent bail and civil applications, both Common Law and Equity)

    Monday, 31 December 2012 to Sunday, 6 January 2013
    Duty Judges: Justice Hall (urgent bail and civil applications in the Common Law Division)
    Justice Sackar (urgent applications in the Equity Division)

    Monday, 7 January 2013 to Sunday, 13 January 2013
    Duty Judges: Justice Hall (urgent bail and civil applications in the Common Law Division)
    Justice Ward (urgent applications in the Equity Division)

    Monday, 14 January 2013 to Monday, 28 January 2013
    Duty Judges: Justice Hulme (urgent bail and civil applications in the Common Law Division)
    Justice McDougall (urgent applications in the Equity Division)

    Parties wishing to contact a Duty Judge after hours or on public holidays should contact the Law Courts Security Desk on 9230 8025. Parties wishing to contact the Duty Judge during business hours should refer to the Judicial Officer Contact details section on the Contact Us page.

    Parties should also refer to the Daily Court List to confirm which courtroom has been assigned to each Duty Judge.

    Registrar lists

    There will be no Court of Appeal or Court of Criminal Appeal registrar lists conducted during the court vacation. These lists will resume after the official start of the 2013 Law Term on 29 January 2013.

    There will be limited registrar lists conducted in the Common Law and Equity Divisions. These limited sittings are set out below.

    Parties should also refer to the Daily Court List to confirm which courtroom has been assigned to each Registrar.
