Position vacant: Tipstaff (administrative) to Chief Justice

    The Chief Justice is seeking expressions of interest from qualified people interested in appointment as an administrative tipstaff to his chambers. The position of administrative tipstaff to the Chief Justice requires a person with a range of work skills and experience with typing and word processing skills an essential prerequisite. Please note that this particular tipstaff position will not require the person to perform legal research or courtroom duties for the Chief Justice.

    Applicants should forward their expressions of interest and CVs to Nick Sanderson-Gough, Manager Support Services by email or post by 7 December 2007. The successful applicant will be expected to take up their duties from 21 January 2008.

    Below is a summary of the minimum standards of competence, work skills and experience for the position:
    • Excellent typing skills;
    • Well developed interpersonal, communication and liaison skills;
    • Capacity to provide clerical and administrative support at an executive level;
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Experience in planning, organising and coordinating work priorities in a high volume work environment;
    • High level time management skills;
    • Experience in drafting correspondence; and
    • Understanding of the operations of chambers and the court's procedures for dealing with cases and other matters.
