The Supreme Court Rule Committee made the following rules of court under the
Supreme Court Act 1970 on 21 October 2002.

Explanatory note
Under Part 14B rule 7 of the Supreme Court Rules 1970, the Supreme Court may of its
own motion dismiss proceedings entered in the Possession List if a defence to a claim
for possession of land has not been filed within 5 months of the possession claim being
entered. The object of these Rules is to enable a Registrar of the Supreme Court to
exercise this power of the Court to dismiss proceedings entered in the Possession List.

2 Amendment of Supreme Court Rules 1970
The Supreme Court Rules 1970 are amended as set out in
Schedule 1.
