How does the compensation assessor decide how much to award?

Once the compensation assessor is satisfied that the act of violence is established and an injury is sustained, they will consider the compensable injuries claimed. If you have not chosen a compensable injury from the Schedule, the compensation assessor may make a decision based on the evidence provided.

The assessment of your claim will depend upon the circumstances of the act of violence and what evidence you have provided in support of the claim. Any evidence you can provide will assist the compensation assessor in understanding the full impact of the crime upon you, and to make an appropriate award.

How much compensation may be awarded for the compensable injury of Domestic Violence?

Compensation for the compensable injury of Domestic Violence ranges from $7,500 to $10,000.
