Objectives of Regulatory Proposal

3. OBJECTIVES OF REGULATORY PROPOSAL

The objective of the proposed Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Regulation 2001 (“the proposed Regulation”), is to repeal and remake, without substantial alteration (except in relation to the fees payable for services provided by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages), the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Regulation 1996. The proposed Regulation will prescribe:

i. fees for services provided by the Registry, primarily undertaking searches and providing certificates of individual events and registering changes of name and parentage information; and

ii. the particulars to be provided to enable the compulsory registration and/or notification of events (births, deaths, marriages, changes of name and changes of sex) in compliance with the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995.
