2. APPROACH TAKEN IN THIS REGULATORY IMPACT STATEMENT


The RIS first considers the objectives of the Regulation and the basis for collecting information and charging fees and prescribing the information that is to be collected by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. The RIS then considers the rationale for collecting information and charging fees. It then examines the options of the remaking the Regulation, which comprise allowing the Regulation to lapse, remaking the existing Regulation and, the preferred option of remaking the Regulation and restructuring the fees.
