I have pleasure in presenting the annual report of the New South Wales Attorney General’s Department for the 1999-2000 financial year.

The report has been prepared in accordance with the Annual Reports (Departments) Act 1985 and the Public Sector Finance Act 1983 for presentation to Parliament.

Improving client service, increasing the skills and performance of staff and implementing innovative programs to improve access to justice for the people of NSW have been particular areas of achievement this year. These achievements could not have been possible without the support, commitment and encouragement of staff and the judiciary.

I look forward to working with staff and the judiciary to build on these achievements in the year to come.
