Appendix 9 - Contractors

The Department presently contracts out many activities, in whole or in part, consistent with the Government’s Service Competition Policy.

A significant number of contracts valued in excess of $50,000 were in place during the year. These included functions such as mail services, fleet management, payroll services, data conversion, audit functions, building maintenance and transcription services. A large component of information technology was undertaken by contracted staff. The Crown Solicitor’s Office counsel fees represent a great proportion of the Department’s contracting out expenditure for this year.

The value of contracts over $50,000 totalled $28,278,374.

The Department is committed to the adoption of further opportunities for contracting out services which represent benefits and savings to the Department.
