Preface

History of this Reference (Digest)

This Issues Paper is a summary of a comprehensive Discussion Paper prepared by the Queensland Law Reform Commission on behalf of the National Committee for Uniform Succession Laws.

The Queensland Law Reform Commission Discussion Paper is entitled Recognition of Interstate and Foreign Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration (Queensland Law Reform Commission, Working Paper 55, 2001).

The Discussion Paper was prepared with the assistance of Associate Professor P R Handford. The preliminary views expressed in the Discussion Paper, and in this Issues Paper, have been suggested by Associate Professor Handford. The views are not necessarily those of the National Committee which is yet to adopt a position in relation to the issues discussed.

This Issues Paper has been prepared for the purposes of consultation in New South Wales. If you require further background information and material on the matters under consideration, you should refer to the full text of the Queensland Law Reform Commission Paper, which is available at «www.qlrc.qld.gov.au».

This Issues Paper follows the same chapter structure as the QLRC Discussion Paper, and contains the same preliminary views.

The issues raised for discussion are substantively the same, although there is some change in their wording and structure.
