Table of grounds and areas of prohibited discrimination under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)


The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- race | But, they are only prohibited if they happen in one of the following areas:- employment

The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- sex | But, they are only prohibited if they happen in one of the following areas:-State (but not private) education

The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- marital status | But, they are only prohibited if they happen in one of the following areas:-obtaining goods and services

The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- homosexuality/lesbianism | But, they are only prohibited if they happen in one of the following areas:- accomodation

The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- intellectual impairment | But, they are only prohibited if they happen in one of the following areas:- registered clubs

The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- physical impairment | But, they are only prohibited if they happen in one of the following areas:- access to places and vechicles (for race only)

The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- compulsory retirement on the ground of age [is prohibited] | But, they are only prohibited if they happen in one of the following areas:- access to places where liquor is sold (for sex only)

The Following types (or grounds) of discrimination are prohibited by the Act:- racial vilification [is unlawful]


And they must not be subject to special or general exceptions under the Act.
