How to navigate this site?

The Families and Friends of Missing Persons Unit (FFMPU) provides information and support for families and friends of missing persons, service providers within, and on the periphery of the missing persons sector, and community members affected by the loss of a missing person.

This site outlines the ways in which the unit provides counselling, information and referral services to those left behind when someone is missing . The unit also focusses on law reform, facilitating and conducting relevant research, the production of publications, and facilitates the sharing of information across agencies in the State, Commonwealth and International missing persons sector.

The FFMPU does not search for people, rather we work closely with search agencies to identify and meet the needs of those left behind when someone goes missing. If you have concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a person or wish to instigate a search for a loved one please refer to the 'Search Agencies' page on this site.

The FFMPU is funded by the NSW Government and is a unit of the Department of Justice and Attorney General. FFMPU is unique in Australia, being the only unit that works with, and on behalf of, families and friends of missing persons.

This website will provide you with the information and support you require about the impact of the loss of a missing person. If you require additional information, please use the Contact Us tab to find out how to contact the FFMPU via telephone or email.
