Legal Assistance
The Law Institute of Victoria website can help you find a legal practictioner in your area. There is an online Legal Referral Service or you can call the Legal Referral Service on (03) 9607 9550 or email referrals@liv.asn.au
Community Legal Centres are independent community organisations providing free legal services including advice and information. Most Centres provide face-to-face legal advice as well as information over the phone. Many Centres hold daytime and evening interview and advice sessions.
Victoria Legal Aid has published a booklet about applying for an intervention order which gives information about:
- what an intervention order is
- how to apply
- what you need to do at court
- what happens after you get an intervention order.

Child Protection Crisis Line Phone 13 1278 This crisis line is a 24 hour telephone service providing assistance and support in the area of child abuse prevention for people in Victoria.
ParentLine Phone 13 2289 or TTY Service: 13 6388 ParentLine provides a telephone advisory and information service for parents and children in Victoria.
Centres Against Sexual Assault (CASA) website gives information about the services offered by CASA including:
- 24 hour emergency or crisis care service
- counselling and support
- information and advocacy
You can phone the Telephone Service Against Sexual Assault after hours and on weekends on (03) 9349 1766 or 1800 806 292 (toll free Victoria outside Melbourne). During business hours Monday to Friday contact the nearest CASE office to you (details found on website).
WIRE - Womens Information is a free information, support and referral service available to Victorian women.
Victoria Homicide Victims Support Group provides crisis and long term support and advocacy to victims of homicide.
Bursting the Bubble is a website developed by DVIRC Victoria that answers questions about domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Questions answered include:
