The Verdict

After hearing all the evidence the prosecution and the defence will present their arguments to the court on why the accused should be found guilty or not guilty.

The magistrate, judge or jury will make a decision based only on the evidence given in court and the relevant law.
If the magistrate, judge or jury has any reasonable doubt about the accused person’s guilt, the charge is dismissed and the accused is set free.

If, however, they are satisfied beyond reasonable doubt, then the charge is proven and the accused is found guilty.
