The new Negotiating Consent Resource Kit has been developed by the NSW Strategy to Reduce Violence Against Women to target the state’s highest risk age groups for date rape: 15 – 25 year olds.

The Negotiating Consent resource Kit has been designed for teachers and facilitators in New South Wales to discuss safer sexual relationships, negotiating consent and date rape, with young people from Year 9 and up.

The materials will support school programs in Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE).

The Violence Against Women Specialist Unit (VAWSU), which implements the Strategy, has developed the package in partnership with organisations such as; the Department of Education and Training, Education Centre Against Violence, NSW Rape Crisis, Central and Eastern Sexual Assault Service and the NSW Commission for Children and Young People.

Important Note: The Negotiating Kit is for distribution in NSW only.

The Negotiating Consent Kit includes:

	A Lesson plan · The lesson plan is the kit’s core component and; · Complements the Stage 5 curriculum for Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) · Targets Year 9 and up, · Contains seven activities for teachers and facilitators
	Relationship booklets This pocket-guide provides phone help lines, quizzes, checklists, stories and other date rape information.
	About Date Rape awareness cubes Developed to complement the lesson plan, the interactive mini-cube contains messages about consent and non-consent to sexual activity, plus help line numbers.
	Information cards The business-card sized information cards provide a quick reference to the website and phone help lines.
	About Date Rape website This newly launched website provides information on sexual assault, date rape and dating violence, relevant laws in NSW, stories and links to similar websites.

Training in the Negotiating Consent Resource Kit
The Violence Against Women Specialist Unit is currently developing teacher and facilitator training in the package in consultation with the NSW Department of Education and NSW FPA health. This training will be available to NSW teachers early in Term 3.

Ordering the Negotiating Consent Resource Kit
The Negotiating Consent Resource Kit is available to teachers and facilitators in NSW only. Additional amounts of the Kit resources are available (while stocks last), once you have received the Kit.
