Developing the Guidelines
These Interagency Guidelines have been made possible through the work of departmental and agency staff on committees and working parties during 2000 and 2001. Approval processes were undertaken during 2003.
The project was coordinated by the Violence Against Women Specialist Unit within the Attorney General’s Department. A consultant (Paul Bullen) was contracted to develop the drafts of the Interagency Guidelines.
During the project representatives from the following agencies have been closely involved and working together:
Legal Aid Commission of NSW
Local Courts
The Judicial Commission
Existing government and agency policies
These Interagency Guidelines are substantially based on existing government and agency policies. These policies are listed in Appendix H. Policies, Reading, Resources and Internet Links. In addition Part 2 Agency Roles were taken from department and agency publications.
