PPIP Act Training Program

ONLINE TRAINING

The PPIP Act Training Program (PTP) is an online training system which aims to help government employees (both State and Local) to comply with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act). It provides staff with training in the operation of the PPIP Act, enabling them to test their understanding and work at their own pace.

The PTP does not cover other privacy legislation such as the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002.

  • allows users to record comments
  • users who complete the course can print their certificate of achievement.

Accessing the PTP

At present the PTP is only being made available by invitation to state government agencies and local councils. Broader access may be provided in the future.

For further information on the PTP, please contact Privacy NSW on (02) 8688 8585..

Previous Training by CD

The PPIP Act Training Program was intially developed in 2002-03 by the Department of Commerce and Privacy NSW as a joint project which resulted in an interactive CD. The Department of Commerce developed the technical aspects of the program, whilst Privacy NSW provided the content.

A copy of the program was sent to all NSW public sector agencies and local councils. The CD contained a setup file and the program was installed on the agencies' servers.

The CD application has been replaced by the online training program. The content and operation of the online version of the PTP is substantially the same as that of the CD, although the content has been updated to reflect recent changes in, and interpretation of, NSW privacy legislation.
