NSW Ombudsman
The NSW Ombudsman handles complaints about NSW public authorities and officials including government departments, statutory authorities, public servants, police, corrective services and local councils.
The Ombudsman also oversees and monitors the investigation of child abuse allegations against employees of certain government and non-government agencies.
NSW Office of Fair Trading
The NSW Office of Fair Trading provides information and assistance for consumers, particularly in relation to motor vehicles, home building and renovation, credit, property and tenancy issues, plus cooperative and business name registration.
Legal Aid Commission of NSW
The LAC provides legal aid services in NSW, giving free legal advice and minor assistance. The Commission also provides legal representation in many areas of law, subject to policy guidelines and means and merit tests in most cases.
Health Care Complaints Commission
The HCCC deals with complaints about health care providers and services. The HCCC is a complaint handling body independent from the Department of Health which investigates and prosecutes complaints against health care providers in NSW.
Private Health Insurance Ombudsman (“PHIO”)
The PHIO is an independent body established to deal with enquiries and complaints relating to private health insurance arrangements.
Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (“EWON”)
EWON provides an independent means of resolving complaints for customers if you are dissatisfied with an action or decision of electricity providers, AGL in NSW and Sydney Water.

Insurance Enquiries and Complaints Limited was developed to answer enquiries, and to investigate, conciliate and resolve complaints about insurance policies.
Banking & Financial Services Ombudsman
The Banking & Financial Services Ombudsman helps resolve a complaint a consumer may have about a bank or other financial service provider.
Financial Industry Complaints Service Limited
The Financial Industry Complaints Service) is a company that has been established to provide free advice and assistance to consumers to help them in resolving complaints relating to members of the financial services industry, including life insurance, superannuation, funds management, financial advice, stock broking, investment advice and sales of financial or investment products.
Credit Union Dispute Resolution Centre
The Credit Union Dispute Resolution Centre handles complaints against credit unions
Credit Ombudsman Service Limited
The Credit Ombudsman Service Limited receives all complaints against mortgage service providers.
Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (“TIO”)
The TIO handles complaints about telephone and internet service providers. If a customer is dissatisfied with the outcome of a complaint made to their telecommunications provider, they may lodge a complaint with the TIO.
Anti-Discrimination Board (“ADB”)
The ADB investigates and conciliates complaints of discrimination, harassment and vilification.
Independent Commission Against Corruption (“ICAC”)
The ICAC aims to protect the public interest, prevent breaches of public trust and guide the conduct of public officials. The ICAC has the authority to investigate any matter involving public sector corruption in NSW.
