  • Fact Sheet 1 - Functions of NSWTG, Financial Management Orders
Read in PDF (38.734KB) | Read in Microsoft Word (83.96 KB)
The NSW Trustee and Guardian can be appointed by the Equity Division Protective of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the NSW Guardianship Tribunal, a Magistrate or the Mental Health Review Tribunal to provide financial management services for people who are not able to manage their own financial affairs because of a disability.
  • Fact Sheet 2 - Why Become a Manager
Read in PDF (45.539KB) | Read in Microsoft Word (87.552KB)
An application for a financial management order is usually made when a friend or relative of a person with a disability becomes concerned about the ability of that person to manage his/her own financial affairs
    .
  • Fact Sheet 3 - Responsibilities of a Manager
Read in PDF (40.7KB) | Read in Microsoft Word (85.504KB)
Managing the simplest estate may be likened to being Treasurer for a small voluntary organisation, as it requires maintaining records of income and expenditure for auditing in a similar way. Managing more complex estates, especially where assets need to be sold and legal agreements entered into, requires more time commitment. So do estates of persons whose lifestyle, wants and needs change frequently. NSW Trustee and Guardian staff will always be available to assist you in your management decisions.
  • Fact Sheet 5 - The Authorised Visitors
Read in PDF (42.954KB) | Read in Microsoft Word (78.847KB)
An Authorised Visitor is appointed from a panel of independent disability specialists who are trained health professionals with demonstrated expertise and extensive experience in the field of disability. His/her confidential report provides the NSW Trustee and Guardian with independent information as to how the best interests of the person are being addressed within the limits of his/her financial resources.
  • Fact Sheet 6 - Power of Attorney - Wills and Estates
Read in PDF (43.283KB) | Read in Microsoft Word (79.872KB)
When a financial management order is made, any power of attorney made before the financial management order came into effect is suspended for the duration of the order unless otherwise ordered by the Court or Guardianship Tribunal. However, there may be some exclusions, i.e., the attorney may be authorised by the Guardianship Tribunal to continue to manage part of the estate.
  • Fact Sheet 7 - Review Process and Complaint
Read in PDF (35.825KB) | Read in Microsoft Word (83.968KB)
NSWTG welcomes feedback from clients and other interested parties. Clients and stakeholders are encouraged, and have a right, to express their views about the organisation and the service it provides.
