What type of Court documents does the Sheriff’s Office deal with?
The Sheriff’s Office can serve most documents issued by a Court or Tribunal of New South Wales, other Australian States or Territories, and some overseas countries. You should check with your local Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Below are some of the documents we serve.

Civil Documents

Garnishee Order
Examination Summons

Family Law
Application for Dissolution of Marriage,
Application for Maintenance,
Application for Child access,
Other family law applications or documents

Subpoena to appear before a Court

Documents issued from another State or Territory (Inter-state)
The Sheriff’s Office can serve most documents issued by other States and Territories Courts and Tribunals. If you have taken out a Court document from another state, you should discuss with the Court of issue what options are available.

The Attorney General's Department has certain agreements in place with other countries for the serving of their documents.

Writ for Levy of property (seizure of a persons assets)
Writ of Possession (issued by the Supreme Court to give possession of a premises to a Creditor)
Writ of Specific Delivery (to recover specific property)
Writ in Rem (arrest of a ship or cargo)

Yes, there is a fee for service or enforcement of all documents. Please check with our Fees page
