Welcome to the Office of the Sheriff of New South Wales.

The Office of the Sheriff of New South Wales provides law enforcement, security, and other court related support to ensure the safe and successful operation of the NSW court system.

It is a division of Courts & Tribunal Services of the Attorney General’s Department of NSW. Courts & Tribunal Services is the largest business centre in the Department, with about 1500 staff located at more than 164 locations across the state. AGD Home Page. The Office of the Sheriff has 418 uniformed Sheriff’s Officers and clerical officers, located within 61 centres at 59 courts across NSW.

Sheriff’s Officers’ law enforcement duties include serving summonses issued out of the various courts, enforcing writs, warrants, and orders. Their security duties involve maintaining the security of court complexes and the safety of people attending these complexes.

The Office of the Sheriff of NSW is also commonly known as the Sheriff's Office.
