The Legislation and Policy Division advises the Attorney General, the Department and other departments on legal policy and legislative reform.
Role of the Legislation and Policy Division
With the Criminal Law Review Division, the Legislation and Policy Division develops and conducts the Attorney General’s legislative program and provides parliamentary and administrative support services.
Legislation and Policy Division’s role is to:
- identify the need for, and formulate changes to, the law and legal system,
- ensure quality legal policy advice is provided to the Attorney General and Government,
- implement the Attorney General’s legislative program, and
- inform the community about changes to, and the operation of, legislation within the Attorney General’s portfolio.
