The Library is not open to students or the general public.
The Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC) at the State Library of NSW has an excellent legal collection and is open to the public. Contact LIAC. Litigants in person are advised to contact LIAC for assistance with their legal research requirements.
The Law Courts Library's primary purpose is to provide legal resources and information to the courts and tribunals in the Law Courts Building. The Law Courts Library Rules permits access to members of the legal profession and librarians on a user pays basis.
All applicants must agree to abide by the Law Courts Library Rules
The Law Courts Library is open to access card holders from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
Legal Practitioners
Individual Practitioners I LawFirm/Organisation I Barristers' Floor
Members of the legal profession holding a current access card do not have borrowing rights. Bar Association and Law Society members should apply to their respective professional libraries, should they require items for use while in court.
Photocopying and printing facilities are available at a charge.
The Law Courts Library access fee for 2009-2010 has been increased.
“Increase is necessary to cover the increase in publication costs, CPI increase and is in line with increase in Supreme Court filing fees”.
Access is available for 1 day, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or on a financial year basis.

Libraries
Libraries are required to complete a new registration form whenever there is a change of Managing Librarian.

Academics & Post Graduate Law Students
Lost Card - Replacement
A replacement card will be issued upon receipt of a written request. A fee of $63.10 is payable.
Photocopying & Printing Facilities
From 1st January 2007, the Law Courts Library manages an in-house public photocopy service for external clients.
Photocopies are available at a charge of 35c per copy.
Copiers are located in the photocopying room adjacent to the NSW legislation collection.
The machines operate using copy cards. Cards can be purchased for $2.20 from the card vending machine located in the photocopying room.
Credit for copies can be added to these cards. The machines do not provide change but do issue receipts if required.
Microfiche and microfilm prints are available on request at a charge of $3.30 for up to 5 pages.
Printing is available from any of the public access terminals in the library. There is a charge of $1.65 for up to 5 pages.
All prices are inclusive of GST.
