Professional Costs

For civil actions commenced AFTER 1 October 2005

A solicitor may claim these costs when:

  • For a liquidated claim, the amount is $20,000 or more;
  • For an unliquidated claim, the amount is $10,000 or more.

See District Court Rules, Part 39A Rule 12

Regulation 50 allows a solicitor to add up to 10% on top of the fee for GST (if GST is payable on the service)
