Welcome to the District Court’s Website

The District Court of New South Wales is the “middle” court in the State’s legal system. (Link to Australian Legal System)

The Court consists of the Chief Judge and such other Judges as the Governor may appoint.

It is a trial Court and can hear certain appeals. The Court has both a criminal and civil jurisdiction, and the Judges preside over some tribunals. More >>>

District Court Practice Note Civil 7 (Court Approval of Settlement) revised 6 May 2009.

District Court Practice Note Civil 8 (Early Return of Subpeonas) revised 5 May 2009 - this Practice Note supersedes and replaces the previous Practices Notes referable to early return of subpoenas.
