Who are the Judges ?
There are three Judges who hear cases:
1. President Judge J L O’Meally, AM, RFD appointed 28 August 1989
2. Judge J P Curtis appointed 3 June 1996
3. Judge W P Kearns appointed 11 July 2006
(In addition, there are two Acting Judges, Acting Judge P J Johns and Acting Judge B W Duck)
Claims based on injury caused by exposure to asbestos account for the vast majority of cases. Mesothelioma, a deadly cancer of the lining of the lung which is linked to exposure to asbestos, accounts for around 50% of all claims filed in the Tribunal.
