About the handbook
This handbook is a guide for Justices of the Peace (JPs) in New South Wales (NSW). It constitutes the guidelines issued for the purpose of section 8 of the Justices of the Peace Act 2002 (the Act).

The handbook is written to help JPs to understand their duties and to carry out those duties in a proper and responsible manner.

The handbook also clarifies other obligations of JPs , such as informing the Attorney General’s Department of NSW of any change in their contact details and about matters that might affect your appointment.
