Facilitator Recruitment

A Forum is an alternative way of dealing with a person convicted of a criminal offence in the NSW Local Court. A Forum brings together the offender and the victim with a facilitator, support people, a police officer and other relevant people to hear what happened, find out how people were affected by the offence and work on what can be done to make things better. The Local Court makes referrals to the program and orders for offenders to undertake intervention plans developed at Forums.

Forum Facilitators are responsible for contacting and meeting with Forum participants to prepare them for the Forum, facilitation of Forums and preparation of Forum Reports and Intervention Plans agreed at the Forum. This work is undertaken outside of the Forum Sentencing Program Office. On average the work on one Forum takes around 20 hours, over a 6-8 week period, including preparation for the Forum, facilitating the Forum and completing the paperwork. There are generally around 10 or more participants at a Forum.

Forum Facilitators are paid an hourly rate (currently $41.42 per hour) for the time spent preparing the participants, organising, facilitating and preparing the paperwork for the Forum.
