2. Is violent crime increasing in NSW?

Long Term	The recorded rate of violent crime rose substantially during the second half of the 1990s. Since 2004 it has been relatively stable.
Short Term	The recorded number of violent crimes remained stable over the period January 2007 to December 2008.
