Colouring Competition 2006

The Anti-Discrimination board of NSW held a colouring competition for children to celebrate Law Week for 2006.

Issues of race were in the spotlight during the year so the Board wanted to highlight the benefits of diversity and tolerance as part of our Law Week contribution. We designed a colouring template showing a number of animals from different countries, each eating food from another country. There is a koala eating stir-fry, a zebra eating pasta, a panda bear eating fish and chips, and so on.

The Board received over 1,500 entries. Winners were awarded in three categories: ages 0-5, 6-10 and 11+, and there were also 10 finalists in each of the three categories.

The winners were presented with book vouchers for themselves and their school or playgroup at a presentation ceremony at Parliament House on 5 June 2006. Finalists also received a certificate.

Well-known children’s entertainers the Hooley Dooleys performed at the ceremony and presented the prizes.
