Prisoners Legal Service
Our Prisoners Legal Service (PLS) provides a range of services to prisoners in NSW.The Service visits NSW gaols and provides free and confidential legal advice and minor assistance in matters like:
  • bail
  • legal aid
  • appeals
  • classification and other prison issues
  • other legal problems

The Prisoners Legal Service can also represent prisoners at:
  • parole hearings
  • life sentence determinations
  • segregation appeals
  • visiting justice hearings
The PLS is located at Level Two 323 Castlereagh Street Haymarket. Prisoners can contact the PLS on (02) 9219 5888 (reverse charges) or 1800 806 913 (toll free).

Prisoners who need an appointment with a solicitor from thePLS should ask their gaol's wing officer to put their name down in the "Legal Aid Book".
