LEGAL AID COMMISSION OF NSW

Human Resource Management Assistant, Clerk Grade 1/2, Permanent Full Time Head Office Sydney.
Position Number: 2001/026.
Total remuneration package: Valued up to $43, 102 including salary ($36, 259 to $39, 417), employer’s contribution to superannuation and leave loading. The position works as part of a rotational team providing a range of specialist Human Resource functional tasks including policy research: HRM data processing and payroll; recruitment; records administration and office administration.
Selection Criteria: A basic knowledge of HR management practices. Ability to understand the Commission’s services, systems and resources. Relevant vocational training and/or experience in office management and systems. Demonstrated ability in one of the HR specialist functional tasks included in the position description. Demonstrated capability to apply the following skill sets; computer literacy including the ability to work with a human resource management system, accurate data input, planning and prioritising work, client services skills to deal with people by telephone and face to face, written communication skills and the ability to work as a team member, ability to contribute to process improvement. LEGAL OFFICER Grade I-III, Family Litigation, Head Office, Permanent Full-Time.
Position No: 2002/025.
Total remuneration package: Valued to $70,398 pa ($43,422 - $64,379), including employer’s contribution to superannuation and leave loading. The position is responsible for conducting family law matters in the Local Court, Federal Magistrates Court and Family Court, determining applications for legal aid and providing advice in family law matters and advice and representation in Care and Protection matters.
Selection Criteria: Hold or eligible to hold a NSW Practising Certificate issued by the Law Society of NSW. Eligible for admission to the High Court roll. Knowledge of family law and capacity to conduct a family law practice. Capacity to provide quality customer service in a high volume work area. Effective communication skills. Proven capacity to identify and understand legal and cross cultural issues facing socially and economically disadvantaged people. Computer literacy. Common Selection Criteria also apply.

LEGAL OFFICER Grade IV Family Law Relief, Sydney, Temporary Full-Time.
Position Number: 2002/029.
Total remuneration package: Valued up to $76,875 including salary ($68,973 - $70,302) employers contribution to superannuation and leave loading. The position is responsible for performing the duties of family legal officers including Senior Solicitors in regional offices and/or their court circuits and Head Office, at short notice and often with minimal time for preparation.
Selection Criteria: Eligible for admission to the High Court roll. Good knowledge of family law. Demonstrated experience in the conduct of a family law practice. Sound knowledge of legal aid policies in family law. Demonstrated management/supervisory/training skills. Effective communication/interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to handle high volume workloads. Willingness and capacity to travel at short notice to varying locations, which may include overnight stays. Common selection criteria also apply. This is a temporary position under section 33/34 of the Public Sector Management Act for a period up to 12 months. This position is subject to a Disclosure under the NSW Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1988 and will be subject to employment screening.
