Spinning the wider web
We review three of our favourite legal websites:

Australasian Legal Information Institute
www.austlii.edu.au

A really meaty and well-established site, austlii is in fact the largest Australian legal site boasting over 100 databases. A visit can lead to fruitful hours researching current Australian legislation and extensive caselaw. Look out for:

Australian Treaties Library at
www.austlii.edu.au/au/other/dfat

Indigenous Law Resources at
www.austlii.edu.au/au/other/IndigLRes

extensive links to other Australian and World law sites.

Australian Institute of Criminology
www.aic.gov.au

If crime's your bag, then you can't go past this site. The Institute is a Commonwealth government research and information agency for the study of crime and criminal justice in Australia. In this treasure trove of invaluable reading you will find useful publications in full text, including the Trends & Issues in Crime and Criminal Justice series, Crime Facts Info and a range of statistical publications.

The Shopfront Youth Legal Centre
www.theshopfront.org

This is a brand new site launched in November 2001 by the Shopfront Youth Legal Centre – a free legal service for homeless and disadvantaged young people. Young people can find out about their legal rights and which areas of law Shopfront can advise them about. There is also a list of legal information sheets that will be useful to youth workers.
