People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities

Photograph of five people from culturally and linguistically diverse communitiesThe Department of Justice and Attorney General identifies and values the diversity of cultures, languages and religious affiliations of the people of New South Wales.

We aim to continuously improve our services through community consultation, education, communication and participation. We consult with various community groups through their representatives and other justice agencies to identify the barriers faced by new and emerging communities in accessing the justice system. We will continue to identify the barriers faced by culturally diverse communities and endeavour to make our services more flexible and user-friendly.

To demonstrate this commitment, we have developed the Culturally Diverse Communities' Access Plan 2009 - 2012 which can be downloaded.
